I agree with both of you. For a better id you need Susan (Ophiura), the echino wiz. Maybe rename the post to get her attention?

HI!

Well, it is tough for me to ID cukes in general...locality, shots of the feeding tentacles, etc are all basics, but many or most cuke identifications come from examination of microscopic ossicles in the body wall. I have some people I might be able to send pics to, but cukes in general are somewhat similar and tough to identify without more structure/information. I know that the two pics are not the same animal...but you can see how similar they look nonetheless.

Susan

Just wanting to know or confirm 100 % it is a "cuke" not that it is the species in the second pic. I know it is not that species :D

I take it you agree 100% it is a cuke also ? I said it was a cuke but you know how it is, some just want to argue "IMHO " it is x, y or z, i.e. it is a worm, it is a slug, etc..

It certainly seems to me to be a cuke. Feeding tentacles would of course help confirm that, and for sure it is a filter feeding cuke if it is. Has it stayed in one spot or moved off somewhere?

It crawled out of a LR, after hypo. It was on his glass in a QT and had moved a few inches in a few days, until he touched it, at my request and then it fell. On the bottom it kinda turned white. It still moves really slow. Tank is still in hypo phase. I doubt that will be good for it.

I'll ask for more pics

He told me today it is back up on the glass and will try for more pics. I'm a amazed it is not dead yet. I'll have to see if it is still in hypo QT, Marine inverts just dont' like almost FW

More info

He says it is relatively flat but there is a center oval that is slightly indented. Well, a cuke in hypo may have problems up-taking water and could look kinda flat.
