thinking about getting a 125 or 180, and since the price of the 125 is about half...I wanted to see some aquascaping of the 125 since it's 18" deep. Thanx in advance

Dude, this hobby is not about saving money. Just get a 180!

J/K :) I bought my 180 used for $500. Good luck with the 125...

I'll get a 24" or more tank in width next tank. 18" is a little rough to get a good amount of rock and still have some room up front.

if you can go 24w. you will regret getting the 18" My tank is 24w and I love it. you have so much room that its crazy. My next step will be a 36w tank. But you go with the 24"w

Here is my 125 sps tank. Wish I would have gone with a 240.

Go with the 180g... the $100-$200 difference isn't that much in the grand scheme of things.

If it was only the difference of 100-200 dollars...I wouldn't be thinking about it...the prices I was quoted is the 180 RR is double the price of the 125, maybe I should just buy one used

What about a 120 , I believe it's 4x2x2. The bigger the tank the bigger the skimmer, lighting and other things will be, so the extra cost is not just for the tank.

The price for a 180RR should only be 50% more than a 125RR. Somebody may be hosing you, or maybe the 125 is just on sale???

I have a 125 gallon and don't regret it at all - as for price difference between 125 and 180 gallon, don't forget to consider price of a larger skimmer, more powerful lights, more flow, etc, etc. The tank price is the least of it IMO.

yeah...I hear ya there...but I currently have a 55...so I'll be upgrading all that stuff anyway. And I was thinking of doing 2 250 SE, and one 400 SE. Plus actinic VHO. I have a friend who has a 120 and I just don't like the look of how deep it is and it's only 4 foot long...so I'm not sure what I'm doing yet...still kicking this around...but my 55 is getting full

Well, I just rescaped the rock for the seventh or eighth time, and will most definately say go with the 180!! The extra depth (front the rear) would make the aquascaping look much more natural.

Here is my 125 Display. Definitely going to upgrade to at least a 180. As you can see by the side shot, it can get rather cramped;)

Did anyone do anything more unusual with the 125 aquascaping, these tanks are very nice, but it would seem that in these skinny tanks your forced to do the LR piled up against the back glass deal. I will be doing a 125 in the next few weeks and if my apt. floor was strong enough I would have got a bigger tank. Anyways, I plan on 2 LR piles low to the bottom and hopefully the corals will grow upward and fill in the large open area above the LR.

Ireef69 has a 125 that has two islands on the ends. It makes the tank look 8 feet long

I used to have 2 islands in my 55, till I wanted more room for more coral...lol. I now have the famous boring wall all the way across...but I have Marshall island and it has lots of odd crevices and holes and stuff...
