There are so many needle wheel reviews. So I think venturi owners should speak up.
Schuran - avalibile at aquarium obsessed(sponser)
Bermuda (sponser)
elo's (sponser)
the list is big I know I also know you all are out there lets get posting.

I recently replaced a skimmer with a NS1000 Elos and I like it, it is quieter, runs on many pumps, and the pump is not modified from its intended configuration (which was one of my main complaints with needlewheel), the pump can run externally, the cup simply lifts off for cleaning, it downright a work of art, and it is doing the job

the bermuda hob (venturi) outperforms this euroreef es5-2 3:1.

which means that (though the skimmate is very wet, the way i prefer it, want it and is intentional) the bermuda skimmed out the amount shown in one day while the er took 3 days to get to the same amount.

venturi's have definitely taken a backseat to all the hubbub given to needlewheels at the moment. needlewheels have their situation application as do venturi's, becketts and countercurrents.

will the ber. skim drier if you wanted it to? What are those blue bottles? - lets see your tank to get a feel for how stocked your tank is.

thanks

I like the fact that there is no special pump if my pump dies, breaks or who knows I run to my local pet shop and whala I am skimming again.I like the look of the shcuren I think I migt try to make my own.

the blue bottles are part of the zeovit system. they are additives that assist in promoting growth and color.

the white bucket is my diy external reactor that holds the zeolites which are central to the system. it also makes a great carbon reactor for passive flow through it (the way zeovit recommends it).

here is a pic of the tank that the bermuda is hooked up to. it is my ghetto garage tank that is stocked to the max with clams, zoo's, ric's, lps etc etc...

absolutely a great skimmer run on a mag 3.

Rwinfrey, I know, I know, I've been waiting until my tank was closer to being ready for water, now I'm getting married in two weeks! I leave for Maui on may 10th and will return on the 20th. I have to wait until I get back! Its driving me crazy! Getting married in Hawaii is costing us serious coin, over $10k already and we havent even got there yet! I just transferred all my fish and live rock to my 180g today. I have a guy interested (we all know how that goes) in my 90g. If he buys it this week, I can go ahead and order the Bermuda, otherwise I have to wait until I get back. She who must be obey'd!

when I got married I had a 75 gallon reef it flooded while I was on my honeymoon thank god my freinds taking care my tank didn't call us.(stinkin snail) BTW I build stuff at a local pet store for my supplies will-------work for fish tank----so I am good at drooling and waiting------- drives my wife nuts:D

My fiance bought me the tank for my Birthday in january, then my step dad built me a custom stand and canopy to match the furniture we had just bought. By the time I got the tank/stand/canopy and more rock ( another 150lbs of base) it was april!! My fiance is trying to convince me to wait until we get married, so here I go, er dont go I guess.....I've been buying all my equipment for the last 4 months and the only thing I dont have is the skimmer and lights. I'm going with the Bermuda either the 8C or 5C and the 60" T5ho retro from ReefGeek. I dont have anything that is light dependant so the skimmer is next in line. The 8C and a good pump is gonna run me a cool $1k. Ouch! But I'm sure it will be worth it. I'm not skimping on this tank, thats why its taking me so long to get it going! I'm gonna post a build thread soon and brag about Bermuda! I think they need more recognition.

I am doing the same slow and easy with a 150 I am in the process of finishing my basement.I have been practicing with acrylic and going to attempt to build my own skimmer if it doesn't work I will do as I am told and just buy one and get the I told you so.

I likre the look of the ELOS but 800.00 bucks for a skimmer that kind of looks like you could make one out of a berlin.
