Level of difficulty with SPS

Hey Im thinkin about throwing some SPS coral into my sump with a 250 metal halide light on it. I was thinking of getting a few frags and having they grow out into large pieces. The only problem would be that I will be away at college and someone who does not know as much about tanks will be watching over my tank. How much attention do SPS coral need? Thanks guys

I think sps in a sump is a bad idea. I also would'nt trust them to someone who did'nt know much about keeping up a tank. The water chemistry and quality of the water is very important for sps corals.

I think the biggest problem would be alk and CA supplimentation. If the person who is caring for the tank can't deal with testing and dosing for CA and alk then the corals won't have a chance.

they probably wouldn't get the amount of flow that they need in a sump either.
