Leveling a stand?

Anyone have any tips for leveling out a stand? We are redoing our floor so I'm going to be draining the tank down and moving it. It's been about 1/4"-1/2" off since I set it up. I figured now would be a good time to level things out a bit. Do I just shim the stand at the floor? Do I need to have shims touching the entire outer edge of the base? Any input would be great!! Thanks.

I have shimmed many tanks (wasn't a leval floor in my old house...lol...) I never had any trouble just shimming one end.

Alright just wanted to make sure. I guess it can't be too much worse than the tank being so unleveled to begin with. When you shimmed it was there a gap between the stand and the floor?

I shimmed mine also. There was a little gap from front to back on one side but not bad. Depends on how level your floor and tank stand are to begin with.

It won't be an issue if the stand isn't touching thew floor all the way around? I tried to shim it a while ago (the tank was still half full so I used my car jack to jack it up :0 ) and it was about 1/2" off then. Now it's maybe a 1'4" off, but it's on carpet.... So I know it's going to be different when the carpet is pulled.

nope you'll be fine as long as you leval the stand. Dont ever leval the tank... you'll have trouble then... like a broken tank :(

Yeah I figured leveling the tank would be a bad Idea.. Uneven stress on glass is a good way to crack it. That's why I'm concerned about leveling it at all. The points where the stand isn't touching the floor will have less support than where it is touching the floor. But if everyone else here has done shimming without issue than I'll go for it as well. Thanks everyone for the help!

If you hav serious leveling problems you can get those nylon funature sliders that you nail on, you could even use fender washers if needed. Put them on the low side and dont put any where the floor is good. I think it would work well.

Thanks for all the input!! I did the job yesterday and leveled it out with shims. I had to shim it up about an inch on the low side. So my question now is, what do I put the sump on? The cabinet floor is raied off the ground and there's no way it will hold a 20l... Would it be ok to build a platform on the bottom cross braces? And do I need to put shims the entire length on the stand? For now I'm running sumpless as need to figure out how to fix the stand floor issue and rebuild the sump... Talk about a stressful day!!! We started the floor at about 10am and worked straight up until about 11pm no stopping for lunch or even a drink!! I was SOO stressed about getting the tank put back together I couldn't think of anything else... Welp any input on this would be great!! Thank all and take care!

Glad to here all went well. Yes with 1” you do need to shim the whole length like 1’ to 2' apart other wise it will sag in the middle. I would do the shelf if it were me. The stand is leveled so the sump should be also given the braces are flush with the bottom frame.
