Leveling tank and weight distribution.

I've got a 90 gallon tank and stand from perfecto corporation. The stand itself is level(trim work that is), but the left end cross brace that supports the tank frame is slightly lower, causing the tank to be low on one end. I placed a one inch wide by 1/8 thick strip of wood along the end of the stand inside the lip which supports the tank frame. With the tank sitting on this shim, it is now level and look good. Upon inspection from below, the center crossbrace board no longer contacts the frame of the tank, if it ever did. Should I also shim under this section?....or....is the weight of the tank mostly supported on the ends and corners?

This is probably an anal question, but would rather not have tank bust out due to lack of support.

I have been using a carpenters level, not just my eye.

Thanks in advance for any insights.

My tank was perfectly level until I added about 1/2 the water. I put shims under the bottom of the stand to make it perfect again.
I'm not sure but I don't think shimming the top of the stand is a good idea. You want the tank to be fully supported by the stand evenly. I would add some water to let it settle a bit then shim the bottom of the stand.

Here is what I tried.

Here is what I tried.

I'm not sure if we're talking about similar situations without seeing pictures but I had a similar situation. I had a slight leveling issue but more of an issue of contact with my homemade stand. What I did to solve the issue was first get a sheet of plywood and drilled it to the top of the stand. I then bought some 3/4 inch thick foam pink insulation board. The pink board is more rigid than your average foam board. This ensured I had even and more level contact the whole way around the tank even after adding the plywood. The slight leveling issue self corrected with the foam board.

On this stand, from the manufacturer, the tank only contacts the stand on a 1x4 board on each end, and one 1x4 across the middle. The majority of the tank frame rests on nothing. Thats why I wondered if I can place the shims on the actual supports. If I shim the stand itself at the floor, then the stand will run noticeably down hill.

Yikes I don't like that considering the amount of water those things hold. I would add plywood to the top of the thing and add a nice trim to paint any color you wish to cover up the plywood.

i have seen some manufacturers require(as part of the correct installation for valid warranty) a sheet of styrofoam be placed under the tank.my lfs has a sheet of 3/4 inch under a 450 gallon tank to help level it,the styrofoam doesnt compress much.just a thought.
