If this is a return pump you'll have to include the head pressure/height the pump is working against. One pump may do 900 GPH at one foot of head but 500 GPH at four feet.
You can always run a ball valve on them if they're too strong. You're always better off getting one stronger than weaker however it's probably even better to do the research and get it right the first time. I have a few pumps around the house. I'll look them over tonight and let you know.
