So I noticed there is a new fish store in town. Looking forward to seeing something different, I visited with the new facility. Its nice. However, I hope all the Memphis stores will consider that they are all open on the weekends, bless you, and all *closed* on Monday. Now I know behind the scenes there has to be some communication between fish store entrepreneurs and would like you all to consider this thought for the next secret meeting....How about one of you stay open Monday? Even better still, maybe rotate so each store gets a chance to soak up some Monday business? And since I have no ones attention already, stock some buffer...In larger quantities. May as well keep one of the more commonly used additives on the shelf in a quantity large enough to last more than a week, maybe give the more cryptic additives a couple months off ; )

Peace.

I have always run into this too. I work nights, tues - sat. Sunday I try to spend around the house with the kids. Monday I try to get my running around done, but alot of buisnesses are closed (mine included).

Most of us don't have many employees. So being open on Monday means we don't get any days off at all. Would you like working 7 days a week? No days off??? Ever??? I don't think so. Monday's and Tuesday's are historically the slowest days of the week so those are the best days to be closed. My 2 cents!

i think dave and richard should be fed massive amounts of coffee and cigarettes and open their shops 24 hours a day.

I think kermits on every 3rd weekend starting now should only be open from 12 to 2 on Saturday and Sunday. My $2.00

We'd all better be careful or we'll get them mad for sure. The coral cartel is just like the mob around here.

Maybe its time to test the historical waters of Memphis..Maybe Wed, or Heaven forbid, Sunday (God knows some of us could use more church and less window shopping ; ) would be a good day for one of the shops to close. The original point was not that we should expect Wal-Mart like convenience, rather why wouldn't at least one retailer consider plugging the service gap. At any rate, points are well taken. I only hope you will all remember your memphis roots when your mad millionaires phat from the fish pimpin' biz.

A rotating schedule wouldn't work (i.e. open or closed every ____ Monday) it would become confusing to customers and they would get upset if they showed up on the third Monday but you were open every second Monday ( I have people that forget we are not open on Mondays after thirteen years of it being that way.) As to why are the independents closed on Monday (are they all?) it's probably because the others are. It was that way when we opened in 1995 ( we were closed Monday and Tuesday.) While what you say makes "cents" you have to consider the reverse. If we are all closed on the same day you can't lose business to one of the stores that is closed and if someone changed that and opened on Monday the other stores would probably eventually follow the example and pretty soon they would all be closed on the same day again. Now we are closed Monday but I am in the shop a long time that day. It's a day I do payroll, orders, all kinds of business that requires me to be on the phone a lot, any kind of maintenance that can't be done during days we are opened, and a variety of other things. Having said that I frequently do a decent amount of sales on Monday with people that know I'm in. These customers are not browsing but are after specific items that require little of my time or attention so I make allowances for them on Mondays.

As to your other question , I do carry large quantity items (like buffer) but they are intended for shop and service use and because they are not big sellers I do not take up shelf or floor space for them. I frequently only bring in amounts based on our own consumption but have sold them to other service companies and the odd customer form time to time. I would imagine other stores do the same and I know any of them would order it for you.
