light cycles and clowns

good evening :)

So I read this post the other day. someone was asking how to promote spawning.
One of the answers given was to increase the light cycle to 14 hours a day.

When I first set up my MH, my lfs said to only let it on 10 hours a day. I have no other lighting, except a 1 watt lunar light I leave on for an hour after mh go's off.

What would u do? Is it ok to leave the mh on the tank longer? Ive increased it to 11 hours onver the last 2 months...

thanks,
maggie

Honestly, I would let it stay at 11 hours. Think about the corals and your BTA too. Don't want to change something thats already established. If the clowns want to spawn they will. But if you really want to enhance the chances of them spawning go for it.

I run my MH for 12hrs each day, and actinics for 13.5 or so.

I think the bta likes more light...

However, I agree the fish will spawn (eventually) or not.

yea, my MH are on about 12 hrs a day and actinics about 14. yeah its a long day but its always summer in my tank.

they will spawn when ready. there are many ways to encourage spawning, lighting is only one
