Considering buying a new tank, 72 gallon glass bow front. Found it at an LFS for $500, with stand. However it does not come with a top. I currently have a 29 gallon biocube, and do not know much about lighting. I want to keep corals, and anenomes, clams. What lighting would you suggest? and type of fixture? Also is a 72 bow front with stand for 500 a good deal? zit isnt drilled either. They also have 30% off glass aquariums for this month. Thanks!

Hi, just was doing a search for 72G bow fronts and came a cross your post. I have a 72 also and Did a DIY LED light for mine. as for the price I found my 72 used for 300 with stand and drilled. good luck with yours, I love mine but am ready to go bigger.

Hello,

From what you say you want to keep, i would say go with a 6 bulb t5 fixture that you can hang from the ceiling. Reefgeek.com, aquacave.com, marinedepot.com etc. all have lighting that you can check out, read reviews and such. There are also other options like 150-250w MH and even LED's (which i don’t know much about).

As for the price, it’s always hard to say, you may be paying for a brand name, but the price doesn't seem unreasonable. If the tank doesn’t have overflows and you want to have a sump/refugium then you also have to consider getting an external overflow, Otherwise you are looking at all HOB equipment, like skimmers.

Well I don’t know if this was helpful, or just added to your confusion, but good luck, and reefcentral is always here for your questions ;o)
