Lighthouse Controller- 1/2hp chiller?

I have read good things about your controller and like the idea of a non-x-10 system.
I am putting together a cold water tank and need a full 1/2 hp chiller. I am considering the lighthouse for many reasons.
One major concern though:
Why cannot your controller handle this? Too much wattage? Would I destroy the controller if I used it anyways?
Can the strip be upgraded if that is the problem?
