Lighting for a 29 gal

IMO i wouldnt think so if you had it 5 inches or more from the top of the tank

Yep sure is thats 380 watts over a 29 that about 14 watts per gallon

i haev 280 watts, 2x65 PC actinics, DE 150 MH
works great, i can keep everythign im pretty sure
right now i haev 3 digi frags, all growing, and a nice big green slimer
i think 250 would be good, but unneccesary when a 150 will work

Why not go with the 250 the price difference is next to nothing and if you decide to go bigger you have the light. I went with the ARO ballest for hellolights it will run any bulb se or de american or german! It was 92 on sale

true, i would haev liekd a 250 DE on my tank, lots of light, but beign 15(no job yet) and not wanting to run up my parnts electric bill, i reccommended that!

You can see in my pic above that i have a 7 inch fan in the back of the hood. That thing moves some serious CFM's. I got that as a freebie when i worked at kroger they were replacing all the fans in the freezer section they threw away about 200 of those thing i made out with about 20 of them lol Any way i have it on a temp sensor. If i keep the house ac set on 72 it doesn't kick on but if the house gets above 78 it will kick on and off. That thing can drop the temp of the tank a degree or two in about an hour!!
