I've had a 5 1/2 gallon running for about 6 weeks now with about 7 lbs of live rock and a shallow bed of live sand. I want to keep corals in it but I'm having a difficult time finding a good light for a tank this small. I currently have a standard light housing with two light bulb sockets with two coralife mini power compact screw on light bulbs. One is 20w and the other is 10w, are these good enough to house corals? Please give me your feedback and experience.

Thanks,
Jimmy

I've tried 18 watts of power compacts over an 2.5 gallon pico and did not have any luck with sps. That is an average of over 7 watts per gallon. I would try as high an wattage possible and pretty much ignore the watts/gallon rule unless it is outrageously high.

contact gotboostedvr6 over at nano-reef.com he can make you a 35W MH pendant or you can go to illuming.com to get a 70W MH retro which i think would be perfect

I went on nano-reef.com and I'm trying to figure out how to contact gotboostedvr6 for the MH. I keep getting error messages even tough I just registered. Is there any other wat to contact this guy? I was also looking at the jbj viper mh 70W but seems like a lot of light for this small tank.
