ok.....
i have a 75 gallon with 216 watts of t-5ho on them
reflectors for each pair (2 reflectors)
is lps an option here?
ellagance coral?
hammer?
ect....ect...?

just wondering if this is ok
everyone says t-5's are the bomb....
are they this good?

they are good, I still like M/H better. Most lps dont need a huge ammount of light. Acans need low light so they will do good lower in the tank. Elegence corals are up in the air right now. It is said the aussie ones need high light as where the endo's need a little lower light. I am no expert on elegence.

I see a number of problems with MH over an LPS tank if you're not prepared. Evaporation is the number one concern. Number two would be light sensitivity.....LPS' just don't need that much lighting.

They do not need that much light but they do well under mh's regardless "Location." Evaporation is a concern, an ATO unit is basically a must if you have MH lighting. My setup has 2-250watt mh and is lps dominate reef. This much lighting isn't really needed by lps corals but they thrive under it. Most plates, hammers, torches, and frogspawn will do very well under t-5's. I have one elegance in my tank located on the bottom of the tank approx. 30" from the Mh lights. You could probably get away with having one in your tank if it's located higher up in your tank.

Dont forget the dreaded TEMP issue with MH. Depending on where you live temperature issues are only remedied by a chiller.
