lighting for rics

Id say you could get ricordea to grow under less than 1watt per gallon but they wouldnt be very bright, I use halides on mine. If you want to use PC's then a dual PC fixture buying according to length of your tank would be just fine. Zoo's Im not really sure on.

i think zoas are best under halides, their stalk seem to extend when the light isn't strong enough.

Zoos are still a very easy coral to grow and can accept a wide range of light. I grew them under PC for 9 months......I must say they are already better after several weeks under T-5

It depends on the depth of the tank and where you put them. PC lights should be fine but they will fare better with T5 or halides. The coloration seems to be better as well.

My tank is a 1 gal pico and it has 7 watts pc lighting. I just ordered in the 50/50 bulb it currently has the 7200K.

Was thinking about the Coralife 18watt but many say that fixture runs very hot, my lfs says it would be over kill on a 1 gal.

:)
