Hi all,

Just after some advice on lighting a new tank. In research phase at the moment. Building a new house so gotta start plans asap.

It will be a room dividing tank

It wont have a canopy so it will be open top.

I will be utilising solartubes as a source of lighting but will obviously need another alternate source to provide the majority of it during cloudy days etc.

As it is open top I will need to purchase all in one units as they look neat and tidy. (Under parents orders) Cannot have cords running everywhere etc.

QUESTION IS T5 or MH?

Tank dimension is 7 foot long x 5 foot wide x 2.2 foot tall or 8 long and 4 wide. Still debating.

If I use MH I will use two 6 foot all in one units.

These are generally x3 250w or x3 400w.

If I use T5 I will use four 3 foot pendants.

These are generally house x10 39w looking at various units out there. Looking at ATI Powermodule for T5.

What do you think will provide the best aesthetically and intensity wise?

I will be going down the SPS road eventually when the tank settles in so do not want to choose something I need to change later down the track.

Here are some quick mock ups.

Any help from you guys is appreciated.

Didnt get much help on the Lighting forum so thought I'd take it straight to the big tank boys and girls.

I vote for T5 as since you're already using Solartubes, which should provided you with natural sunlight then the T5 can be used for supplement colors, where needed.

Just my 2cents
