What kind of coral could I keep in a 20 gallon tank with 150 watts of VHO lighting? Any SPS? If so what kinds?

i've never tried VHO lighting, but i've seen tanks that use them to keep LPS, but never any sps i dont think. Those lights do get pretty hot tho from what i've read, so at that point, you might be better off just getting a 150w metal halide, at which point you could grow whatever you wanted in my opinion.

Yea I would love to get metal halide but I am a poor college student with a part time job lol. I found VHO for much cheaper

look in the selling forum on here. You can always get a used one for a lot cheaper.

What kind of corals would I be able to grow with the T5s and all around are they better than VHOs?

I have a 20 long, I was thinking of running 2 150 watt mh. 1 bulb won't stretch out wide enough.
2 might be overkill. But I've yet to try.

Oops the question is what you can keep under this type of lighting. I would suggest that 150 watts over your aquarium would allow you to keep nearly anything but the most finiky types of corals. All you can do is try and see what you get. I've seen some really beautiful SPS grown under VHOs and with 150 watts over a 20 gallon, that should be more than enough if you put them high up!
