Lighting options on 120x 48x 36in deep mixed reef

Really need some input on lighting options for this tank. It has 3 rectangular openings on the top that measure 26L x 35W. The 35 inch measurement is from front to back. I intended this to be a mixed reef so I was not too worried about how much light would reach the bottom but I have developed a love for clams since then.
My questions are directed to those who have some experience with tanks this deep. How did u light ur system? Is it a mixed reef? Do you have any clams at the bottom?
I started off with 3 400w 10k bulbs housed in lumenarc 3 reflectors. These are sitting about 10in from the water surface but the spread is not quite enough. I am now thinking about adding some more 400w but I would have to place them above the 1.25in acrylic between the holes to even out the light. I wonder how much light will actually penetrate into the tank. Will i just be wasting electricity?
The other option I was really hopeful about was some of the new mogul LED bulbs but the one I was interested in is only rated at equivalent of 175 w. The advantage to that option other than the obvious heat and wattage draw is that since it doesn't require a reflector, I can put 2 or 3 extra bulbs per opening.
My other thought was to do 3 x 1000w in lumenbright reflectors and mount them much higher to create more even spread and prevent excessive heat. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

I think 3x400w should be enough but 3x1000w is better if you don't mind the electricity usage. Here is the lighting layout for my 8x4 hope it will help giving you some ideas.

the Sfiligoi Exaggerate is for 1000w mh. The light rack measure 96x44
