Lighting Problems, need help

I think my MH ballast is starting to crap out on me. Acts like its trying to fire and then shuts down. I'm going to pull it out and look it over for anything I might be able to fix. In the event that I cant get it back up and running, does anyone out there have a 250w electronic ballast that they want to sell? The ballast I have currently is a coralvue, but I'm open to anything available.

Have you checked with another bulb to see if the bulb that you have is failing?

Thats a good point Travis. I just bought the bulb used from Scott at Oddballs so I'll try my other one and see what happens.

It was worth a shot. How are things coming along?

Still no go. I havent had any luck finding a used ballast. I may have to liquidate my livestock if I cant turn anything up soon

Don't panic and do anything rash. I just bet the reef has gray rainy days where there is no sun. Your livestock will be fine.

For a quick fix, you can go to lowes and get a magnetic ballast and capacitor for about 30-40 $$ I think.


This depends on the bulb I guess.

You should be able to run a 250w on a M58 Ballast.

Edit: Or was it M57?
