Hi, I read this somewhere on this forum, but i just cant find it.

Does any one know how much lighting i need for a GBTA?

Right now i have 4x39W bulbs, 2 10K and 2 actinics. but i was reading that some people have 4x96W! do i have enough light? if i change my bulbs right now to 4x 96W (which is more than double), will it shock my anemone?

Also, i was thinking of change my bulbs to a different brand, 2xATI blue plus, one UVL 75/25 and one ATI Aqua Blue. Would this affect my anemone at all?

Thanks!

I'd say that would work for a gbta, make sure you have it up higher but I totally think that will work. one of the more hardy anemones when it comes to lighting issue. water quality is a MUST when lighting is in question.

I have a GBTA that I had under T5 lights, and it did okay but wasn't thriving. I upgraded to MH and it made a huge difference. It is very happy now

hm..i just bought bought my T5's 5 months ago, i dont think i can spend the money and buy MHs now. is there a rule for how much wattage u need per gallon of water?

actually, the reason i wanted to change my lights was cus i thought that was the reason for my algae bloom and coraline algae. i thought my lights were going....now im not quite sure. i tested my water last night, everything seems ok, ammonia, nitrite and nitrates all at 0ppm, phosphates i'm not quite sure, i tested it, and it came out yellow....but it doesnt have a yellow on my color card.... o.O weird..i am using the API test kit for phosphates.

this might the wrong place to ask, but any idea why i have so much algae? i do have to replenish my CUC tho, is that the problem?

What kind of water are you useing, how old is ur tank?, when i 1st started, i had pc's on my 75, i was useing ro water, algae blooms were unreal, went an bought 2x250 mh kit, about month with weekly 10% water changes and the with mh's algae was gone, plus i driped kalk water for evap.

i am using RO/DI water. my tank is about 15 months old

sorry i am still learning lots, but how do u drip kalk water? what does the kalk do for your tank?

I used kalk water (Mrs. Wages Pickleing Lime) to add calcium to the tank, I had alot of sps and lps corals, might want to invest in more LR, do you use a skimmer, and how often do you feed? I was only feeding maybe 2x a week, oh and what kind of algae are you getting?, hair, red slime etc.?

yea, i have a skimmer by aquamedic. i feed my fish once a day, only squirting as much as they will eat.
i am getting all kinds of algae! hair green, i see a little bit of cyano (uhoh) and now i have what looks like cyano but its dark green!
