Lighting requirements for anemone?

I was tempted to post this in the noobie forum, but decided to ask here since all I have right now are to OC and a Kole Tang. My setup has 2, 39 watt T-5 HO lights with individual reflectors. Is this enough to sustain any anemone? What can I do to upgrade if not?

Is this for the 70G tank? If so, I would say you would want to add at least another two T-5 HO bulbs. It's a good idea to get a year or so of taking care of a marine tank under your belt before trying an anemone. The hosting anemones (ones that host clownfish) are demanding, Entacmea quadricolor being the possible exception.

Wow, I didn't realize they were so hard to care for! I have a Fluval tank that really doesn't allow much expansion of the lighting system, so I guess I'm stuck! I'm starting to wonder if I even need to have anything BUT a FOWLR!

Yeah, if you research anemones, you will find they are one of the more demanding things you can keep. Again, E. quadricolor isn't especially difficult to keep, but harder than most fish certainly.

Metal Halides work GREAT to grow anemones. Haven't had much success using anything else. But I am sure a nice rack of T5's would also work well. But surely not just 2.

Anemones are probably the hardest thing to take care of. I have no problems with fish or coral but am on my 4th Nem. Which is doing fantastic. They are definitely not for beginners.
