lighting requirements for Chaeto

I have a 75 gallon dedicated refuge on my large reef tank with just Chaeto algae in it so far. I run it as normal on reverse of the tanks lighting

question is, when I used PC lighting I developed quite a bit of brown hair? algae on it. Now I am running just a 40 watt flo and there is no brown algae but I wonder if this is sufficient lighting for growth. Was wondering what type of lighting is considered "STANDARD" if there is such a thing or really just what type of lighting you guys were using.

What color temperature are your PCs? I think a fairly common way to go is a simple home-improvement-store available screw-in fixture with compact fluorescent bulb. As I've read it it is very beneficial to get a low color temp bulb, as chaeto grows best at temps under 6k (something like 5.7k?). I am running 130 watts of 6500k PC lighting on my refugium and am getting ample growth with very little algae.

Maybe not exactly the answer you were looking for, but every little bit helps, right?

Actually that is exactly what I was looking for. I am not sure the color temps of the bulbs but they were 130 watters. I think I am on the right track just need to do a little tweaking is all

thanx for the input

this week 5100k seems to be the hot ticket heres some bulbs everyone raves about

i got mine tonight and man i like the color compared to the 100w spotlight i was using

for what its worth my 100w spotlight in two weeks took a small chunk of chaeto and turned it into a basketball sized piece.

honestly 100w with the bulb i had was just waisting electricty

did i say i like the new color of this new bulb :)
