Lighting too intense for BTA?

Here's another question: I gave the BTA another try after my first attempt went sour when it got stuck in the overflow pump and got killed. This one is much smaller and has a beautiful dark green color that brightens up my tank (post pics later today). He also has bubble tips--something that my previous one didn't have. My question is, at random times of the day he shrinks up in his hole (in a cave) and gets no light. most of it's body is under the cave except for maybe a quarter or sometimes a half of it's tentacles at random times of the day. Is the MH lighting upgrade too strong for a bubbletip? It gives my tank about 6.25 w/g 14000K.

Any advice appreciated!!

Watts per gallon, really doesn't tell much. What size of tank, and what type of bulbs.

What was it under before that?

I have had a BTA in a 75 that had 2*250 MH + 2*54 T5, and it did great. It was directly under ( about 10 inches ) one of the MHs.

Now, it may need to be acclimated to the new lights, if it came from a lower light tank.

Well it came from the store, and from what I can see it wasn't intense lighting. It looked to me like flourescents. I have a 24 gallon aquapod with a 150w 14000k clamp on Aqualight Metal Halide bulb. So it just needs time?

Ok, I'll try raising up the light a little farther from the water's surface to see if that helps, and I'll reduce the time. thanks!

Sure thing.

And slowly lower the light, and increase the time over 2-3 weeks. And let the behavior/looks of the anemone be your judge.

My green BTA came from a tank that had 2 250w halides I think. It was only 4 or 5 inches under the water surface. I'd be willing to bet it just needs to get acclimated to the new lighting, and Todd's suggestions are on the money.
