Lights during Cycle?

Whats up guys, I am cycling a 28 bowfront with T-5s and 25-30lbs of liverock. The rock was purchased from the lfs fully cured so there should not be much of a cycle! During this cycling time, should I put the lights on for 2-3 hrs a day? Right now I only turn them on while looking around at the tank.. Who knew one would find themselves looking at rock and water:confused:

I'm not sure if lights help at all, if anything, you may get uwanted algae growth right off the bat. I do know it's not necessary to have them on, so save your electricity for the time being.

When I cycled mine, which it just finished. I used my lights (15 watts flourescents lol) for maybe 1 hour every 2 days just to watch the tank. I have a full mh and vho combo, but its not on until I get my coral.

You will get more die-off from your liverock with no lights with your corraline algae, but it comes back. I never got any diatom blooms or cyano or anything. I still have no algae at all.
