Lights for 5 g

Would a thirteen watt power compact be enough light for a 5g tank if i wanted to keep lps and soft corals?

LPS may be questionable...but the worst thing to worry about is the water swings/temp issues, and the stinging issue

iw ould go with zoos and shrooms and softies, nix the LPS

You are going to have nothing but big headacres controlling or keeping temps stable in a tank this size. I gave up on a ten gallon for this reason and have gone to nano cubes with small chillers.

im running 20w pc on a 10 with softies, shrooms and lps with no plroblem, most temp swing i have had was between 77 and 80, ive had bigger swings when i was running a 55

Nobody said it could not be done but one only need review these forums to see that temp spreads are a big problem. Additionally, I would bet you did not have achiller on the 55 which you should have had!!

the most swing i ever had on the 55 without a chiller was 5 degrees so i dont see where as i should have needed one. try taking into acount the climate differance between socal and central illinois
