lights on fish only?

Do you need lights on a fish only tank? My wife is bothered about having lights running on a fish clownfish tank with no corals.

You dont need high intensity lighting, just some shop lights or a fancy freshwater light would be great.

That is what I was thinking. I currently have a clamp on light from home depot since it is what I had lying around. It has a 75watt energy efficient bulb in it. It is more yellow than I like. but a happy wife makes a happy family :).

I would get a cheap power compact fixture. Or even standard flourescent. Just for your viewing pleasure. You spend all that time and money on your tank, you want the fish to look as good as possible. Any flourescent light will be a good choice IMO. And standard flourescent lights are pretty cheap, and you don't have to change the bulb until it blows unless you want to.

The clip on is a temporary solution until I can get a different light. I do like the idea of not changing the bulbs out until they die though.
