People, need some input: With the lights that I have, should be oK to have clams in my system? I don't want to add something that eventually will not survive.
Thanks like always for the inputs.:)

This is going to start a major fight (lighting and clams usually does).

PC lights are only good fro Squamosa clams, however, this is only my experience (220 watts PC lights on a 29 reef with a Squamy clam) If you want Maximas and whatnot, you *need* MH lights.

Don't go no other way, do MH if you want to do clams. I have a 29 gal with a 175watt W/2 X 32 actinics. I just got my first clam, it's a Corcea.

Agreed. The only clam you could do would be a squamosa, and even then, it would not be ideal. Sell those PCs and get a MH setup. It can be done for only a few dollars more than a PC setup if you shop smartly. All your corals (and future clams) will thank you :)

I had a 15 gallon tank with 2 65watt PCs. The tank was only 12" tall and still, a squamosa wasn't too happy. I got a MH bulb (so I could get a maxima) and the clam suddenly became very happy. I will never put even a low light clam like Squiamosa under anything but MH again.
