If you tank is indeed 36" wide than you aren't going to have very good coverage. I would look into ati powermodules (pricey, but the best) or retro fit setups.

It really depends on how you plan to setup the tank. On my tank (30x30) I just have a single halide in the middle which is fine because the rock work is basically piled in the middle with at least six inches of open space all the way around. So the halide is really only lighting a 18x18 area in the middle. On a tank that size I think I would just go with two 250w halides and lumenarc reflectors. The 8 bulb T5 would work as well, but I am partial to the glitter lines that the halides will give you.

the tank is indeed 36"front to back
48" side to side and 25" top to bottom
well how about this setup

BELIZE SUN - 4 FT HQI + High Output T5 + LED Lighting Systems (400 Watt HQI 10K, Electronic Ballast)

anyone use it?
would it be enough ?
would the other bulbs you can get be better?

I haven't used nor seen a Belize Sun, but make sure that whatever you get, it has fans---- or that you buy fans for it.

T5's, even when not overdriven, really should have fans on them or PAR output can suffer pretty badly.

You might consider looking into the Nova Extreme Pro 48", I think it comes in 6 and 8 tube models.
