Hi guys!

IÃ"šÃ‚´m working on a azooxanthellae invertebrates tank, and I want to know the best way to feed a Lima scabra... phyptoplancton?? Brachionus?? Brine shrimp nauplii?

Thanks!

Dani

It is a filter feeding animal and I recommend a good mix of all all the above. However use newly hatched brime shrimp not the adult. Flame scallop lima scabra are very difficult to keep alive for long term in home aquarium because of its diet needs. Keep in mind you need to isolate the feeding for maximum result. Try feeding the scallop directly with a injection tool of any kind. The scallop will move around to find its favorate spot of the tank so don't try to force it to stay in one spot.

Based on my information newly hatched brine shrimp is not appropriate food for Lima scabra.

I feed with live Phytoplankton and rotifers.

6 weeks ago I changed my small refugium (8. g.) to aquarium for azooxanthellate filter-feeders, where I feed phytoplankton.

There is the picture of that tank (refugi)

Currently I have two azooxanthellate filter-feeders
1.)Protula magnifica
2.)Lima Scabra

That aquarium (refugi) is connected to sump of the main display aquarium (130g, reef). 130g reef aquarium is used as filter for refugi . Every 6 hours 1g. of water is pumped from sump to refugi, so approximately 1/2 ot the water in the refugi is automatically changed every day with water from reef tank.

I feed refugi with live phytoplankton every day in the morning.
