Does anyone have experience with this pump. It's running fine, but it is hot to the touch. Is this normal or will it explode anytime soon? Thanks

Not trying to hi jack but does it change water temp much? I was looking at using same pump on a 37g cube.

It is not in the water, so it does not affect it. It is the return pump. It is pretty powerful. I have approx 130g and it is more than enough. I'm new to this so I don't know if you would benefit from it. I would ask around. Sorry...

You can't just assume that they don't transfer heat if they are out of the water. Depends on the pump design. For instance, a Mag can run in or out of water. It transfers heat in the water. When out, it transfers around 80% (not sure exactly anymore, I ran tests for two days to confirm this but can't remember details) of heat to the water.

Oh, and I run a little giant on my skimmer. Runs hot, and its louder than my equivalent Mag.

Just make sure you oil the little giant pumps correctly as per the instructions.
