I have these strands all over my tank. In some cases they look like a almost invisible feather duster. In others it looks like fine thread or webs all over the tank.
hard to tell from that photo it looks like a ball anemone but what you are describing sounds more like a type of snail that lives in tubes and shoots out webs to catch food particles in the water.
Ball anemones are ok IMO, but definitely keep your eye on it. As far as those strings your seeing goes, like mentioned above they're probably from Vermetid snails.
If it had polyps then it's a bank anemone if it's stringy from one rock to another attached like a web them it's a vermetid snail. Find the shell and smash it then put a dab of super glue. If it's aball anemone then keep nutrients low and will starve of you don't want it
