Live Bait Shrimp ?

Anyone put live bait shrimp ( shrimp that is used for fishing) in their tanks ?

I did once a looong time ago, and removed them pretty shortly thereafter. Those guys are MEAN! They attacked anything and everything that came near them. They're probably not reef safe, either, though I couldn't say that for sure. I wouldn't suggest it.

How about in the sump as a source for plankton ?

Interesting thought. I'm not sure how easy they are to get to breed, or what their chances of survival are. It seems to me like probably more trouble than it's worth. I know they're quite a bit more expensive, but I think you'd be much better off with an actual reef shrimp. Peppermints aren't too horribly high priced. I guess they're not going to hurt anything in the sump, though.
