Live Rock and dry base rock

Where do you typically go to get Live Rock? I am setting up a 75RR and was wondering where you get your rock? The LFS rock typically look pretty devoid of life but the price is like $10lb!!

Can I order 50lbs from Dr Foster and Smith and then after a month or so put another 50lbs in? Would this cause severe spikes again?

Should I put in 50% dry rock and then add the first 50lbs of live rock in all at once? Would this be a better option?

yeah I woudl go with half dry rock and use the other half live rock and the live rock will seed the dry rock and eventually make it live. I ordered 50 pounds of live rock from ebay 3 bucks a pound

Click on Sponsor's at the top of the page. I ordered mine from Dr Mac. Even though you see no life it's deep in the rock. More than a year after I had my tank running, out of nowhere I had bristle worms, then baby brittle stars, and other things start appearing in the tank. Some things went away after cycles, then they came back. Recently, 2 years from the beginning I now have these other types of as yet unidentified starfish.

I bought about 60# of live rock and about 50# of base rock from hirocks.com. Can't tell the difference now. Good luck!
