Live rock and freshwater

I noticed a few of my fish have ich. I plan on taking the fish out of the main tank and placing them all in a qt tank to be treated using hypo salinity. My question is if I take my rock out the main tank and soak it in fresh cold rodi water for 10-15 minutes will it kill off the ich that may be on or inside the rocks?

Any ich that might be on the rock will die off while your fish are in the QT. Without a host, you break the lifecycle.

Dipping your rock in freshwater would kill the good bacteria and start a new cycle, don't do that!

Read the stickies in new to the hobby, and good luck!

Thanks for the input. I was under the impression that ich would die in freshwater or it would die if there was no water in the tank. As far as the equipment goes the skimmer will be cleaned and dried out thoroughly. As well as the return pump. Powerheads I'll be replacing with 4 mp40's

Ok. That's not a problem eventhough it will hurt me to look in the tank and not see anything for 2 1/2 months.
I just didn't know ich could live outside of water or in freshwater
