We are in the process of. Setting up 3 new tanks.we have a 220gal that's been running for 4yrs.my question is I would like to use some of the rock from the 220 to help seed the other tanks.however some of the rock has majanos and aptasia on them.is there anyway of killing these without also killing the rock?also is it nessesary to rinse new substrate?its special grade seaflor thanks.

Hi I used Aiptasia-X to kill my aiptasia... not sure if it works with majanos b/c I've never had those before. You can always remove the rock and use a torch/lighter to burn off some aiptasia too. But you'll certainly have die-off and a mini-cycle.

I do recommend rinsing new substrate, as there's tons of dust. I just bought 120 lbs of Seaflor as well, and boy, is it dirty!

I used aiptasia x on several anemones people told me were aiptasia and mojano. It worked great on both types of anemones without hurting anything else on my rock.

I normally rinse my substrate until this last tank I set up. Didn't really notice much difference with not rinsing.
