I was setting up a 150g for the store I work at and We had brand new live rock come in that this customer want to cycle his tank with. So i go to this man's house to add 200lbs of live rock to the tank with no problems everything was ok. I get home 4 hours later and my hands are on fire. Burning, itching, stiff to move and bend And my hands have turned bright Red. It has now been 4 days and still all the above problems if not worse now. They kinda feel like they are sunburned, you know that feeling when you push on them and its like you can feel the nerves under the skin. Any one have any idea on what cuold have caused this and how to get rid of it.

Get your butt to the doctor. If it's been there for 4 days I would be worried. It's very possible that you are having a slight allergic reaction to w/e it was that caused this.

Liverock can cause a nasty bacterial infection. If you search here for "liverock bacteria" or something like that, it has been awhile, you will find a post with pictures of a guy who ended up with open wounds on his hands because of it. I get it myself but not to that extent. If it is as bad as you describe you might want to seek out the clinic.

Hydroid stings a definite maybe. Unusual for it to last that long, you may be sensitive..
Keep an eye on it!

Get to the doctor, your better off. If you just wait, it might get A LOT worse. Better safe that sorry.

You may want to be careful and have a physician check that out. Usually these reactions subside after a day. Sometimes new liverock can carry palythoa or zooanthid residue from dead or dying organisms. These bioresidues can be extremely toxic. It is usually not a problem if you have intact skin, but if you have any cuts or scrapes where the material can enter, it is possible to have a severe reaction.

Wow didn't know it could get real bad. I think it worse in the morning after waking up. It feels like there is sand in my fingers.

If anyone has anymore links that might help please post. Should I let my boss know about medical treatment.

It's not exactly the same but I cut myself on a piece of live rock and had a similar burning itching sensation for over a month until the wound closed (took much longer than normal).
Stupidly I ignored it and let it heal.
Long story short the scar is still sensitive to touch, super sensitive to sunburn and has an ugly black color to it.
Please go to the doctor! It's not worth waiting to see what happens!

Good luck, Rich.
