Well, here is my newly setup tank, finally!!

A friend thinks I have too much live rock, and I think he is probably right, but i like the different look.
I can't seem to produce any ammonia, although the tank has been setup since June 17th. The rock was fully cured, so maybe I won't have much of a cycle. I will keep testing. I have observed numerous featherduster worms on the 20lb. chunk of rock to the right, and there are some bugs running around.

The light is temporary. My Aqua Medic 150w MH pendant arrived yesterday, and I just need to hang it.

The rock is from the Solomon Islands. Does anyone think it is way too much?

It's def not too much. Looks great! Just make sure you can get good waterflow between and under the rocks.

Very nice rock! =)

Looks pretty good, might have to move it away from the glass some so you can clean it. Doesn't look like you need more rock, maybe a bigger tank :D

Thanks, NanoGurl! A friend and I drove to That Fish Place in PA and they had a really nice rock selection. I think my flow is pretty good. Time will tell, I guess.

Criminal#58369, I have already had problems getting to some of the glass near the bottom, but I can't move the rock! :( And yes, when I leave this apartment, 180 gallon tank (in my dreams and my wife's nightmares :) )!!

looks real good ! That is not anything of being to much rock.
I have a lot of rocks in my tank, but I keep a lot of water currents in my tank along with a home made surge flow system! with no problems

I got the Solomon rock. It looked more interesting to me - lots of holes for things to hide in - and was only marginally more expensive. I think I ended up paying $5.69 / lb. They packed it in wet newspaper and plastic bags, and it seems to have fared the trip from TFP to Southern Maryland with very little die off.

Not surprising you got not ammonia reading with that rock .. while it has great structure and looks fantastic it doesn't appear to have anything on it ... similar to base rock.

If your unsure whether your tank has cycled you might consider putting a bit of fish food into the tank to decompose ... a very small amt. of unscented/clear ammonia would accomplish the same thing.

kevin2000, if I still have no ammonia reading tomorrow I will probably take your advice. At least then I will know how well the tank can process waste. I am afraid to stick any life in it if there might be insufficient bacteria to handle it.
