Live rock in the area

I am starting a tank up after being out of the hobby for a couple of years and the tank is being plumbed this weekend. I will need about 75 lbs of live rock so I was wondering if anybody was selling any and if not what store has some decent prices? I will go broke paying $6.75/lb which is what I saw at a store last night. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks

i'm always curious to read why people go for live rock instead of dry rock?

since you can introduce bacteria via other means (raw shrimp in a nylon sock).

mind if i ask?

I was debating on doing dry rock too. Maybe half dry rock and half live rock. I was planning on using some type of stability supplement to cut the cycle time down a bit, I've heard people have success with that. Still not 100% which route I'm going just depends on what prices I can find.

afaik, you can skip live rock completely and just use a shrimp to start the cycle w/ creating some ammonia. just put dry rock into the tank.

not sure where algaes come in though... or if they occur naturally... idk. still early in my aquarium life. also pods and inverts won't naturally spring to life out of the dry rock. but you can add both.
