My store sells Live Rock for 7$ a LB but it is cured fiji, vanatau, marshall with amazing color on them and i can hand pick them. it is 6 dollars a lb if i get over 50lbs

Or do I go for the cheaper live rock online?

For my next tank I'm planning on going the route of buying (dry) base rock for the bulk of the rock and seeding it with a few choice LR pieces. For faster coralline establishment you can scrape existing coralline off a rock to spread it around the tank. I think buying a few pounds in the store is a good idea though, since you can see it and have a pretty good idea of the potential algae, pests etc that it may have. Also good for accent/show pieces.

Try Dr.Mac. They're selling Fiji for $2.98/lb. I've gotten rock from them twice now and it's been fully cured both times. If you call up and speak with them you can tell them what kind of shapes/sizes you want and that's what they'll send.

Here's what you do. Order a 50lb box of figi on ebay. 3 bux a pound shipped. I did it. They were smaller peices, but still nice.

Stack the ebay rock in the back. Buy some nice show pieces at 6-7 bux a pound for the front.
