Live Rock Survival

I just sold my aquarium (getting out of the hobby) and have about 40 lbs of live rock left. I put it in a large container with the tank sand and some tank water. I am looking to sell it, but since I haven't yet, I need to know the most practical way to keep it in good shape. My LFS says I should put a filter in there but I don't have one. Any suggestions?

Put in a powerhead or even an air pump. You just need water circulation. I would also suggest lighting to keep it's color.

While waiting to set up my tank, which was my friend's, i kept the rock in a tupperware bin with a powerhead and an airstone, this kept the rock good for a couple weeks till i had all my components ready to get the tank running. My rock still has tons of feather dusters, spaghetti worms, and various other things living on it (including aptasia, booo).
I had some left over rock, which i kept in the same bins, using the same method for another couple weeks, till another friend of mine got his new tank and picked up the rock. It all still looks really good, tons of life....so you should be fine considering some of mine survived for 7 weeks without a problem.
