Live Rock

What is the current consensus on the amount of live rock (in pounds) per gallon of tank water? The ratio I found in prevoius research was to have 1-1.75 lbs per gallon, but it seems like there are a lot of people using less than that.

I have about 160lbs in my 120. I like a larger reef and I wanted mine taller.
