Live Rock$$$

I am going to use about 75% base rock in my 240. The balance of LR is at best 3$ to 3.5$ per pound delivered. My fear is that the shipments will take two days at best and much of the rock will be dead or dying. My LFS sells it at 6$ per.

Has anyone had a good experience with shipped LR?

Thanks

Petros

even at two days shipping it wont die off that much. Just think of the exposed reefs during low tide. Plus it is in a box wrapped in newspaper then wet down with saltwater then wrapped in plastic bags to keep as much of the rock wet as possible. I wouldnt worry about it dieing off to much I would save that $2.50-$3.00 per pound and invest it some equipement. Plus you never want to add shipped rock to an established tank. If you are just setting it up and cycling then get the shipped stuff. HTH

I have had LR shipped to me twice and I have been very pleased thus far. Check out Reefermadness.us, they have some great rock. If you are starting the tank from scratch I would suggest putting all the base rock in the tank with the uncured LR so it will benefit from the cycle.
