Live sand prepackaged

What do you guys and gals think about the live sand that's prepackaged? I don't understand how the sand could still be alive sitting in a package on the store shelf.

I don't understand how the sand could still be alive sitting in a package on the store shelf.

Neither do I. I think it is a scam.

I used normal dry sand and bought a few pieces of live rock.
