Live Sand?

Hey everyone,

So I just set up a Red Sea Max 250, let it cycle and added 2 sustainable aquatics mocha clowns 4 days ago - kept the clowns in QT or a week or so and they were AWESOME so put them in RSM already.

I set the tank up with base rock, fiji pink live sand and fritz zyeme turbostart 900. Haven't seen a trace of ammonia at all since the cycle was complete (testing daily) and have some spare RO water and turbo 900 left just incase.

Basically I was wondering how to add all the beneficial little guys (like worms and pods) to my sand bed. Is the only way to get some sand from someone from an established tank? If that is the case would anyone be willing to possibly give me some sand from their established tank at the meeting tomorrow? I am more than willing to compensate you for the trouble.

The only concern I might have with borrowing sand from someone else's tank is the possibility of getting some unwanted things (like aptasia, etc). Is that something I need to worry about? I know I might sound crazy but I am trying my hardest to prevent the "bad" hitch hikers - hence the base rock.

Thanks in advance to everyone who can lend some advice.

Your concerns are warranted and you are doing great job getting your tank off to a clean start. You can take it a step further by introducing individual creatures one at a time. It's more work but decreases the odds of importing pests.
If you're going to the meeting tomorrow i can bring a few spaghetti worms, mini brittle stars, colonista snails and amphipods for you. Live pods can also be ordered online.

Sounds Great! Thanks so much!!!

As far as ordering pods online...I've done some research and it seems that most people buy and add pods to supplement feed certain fish like mandarins. However, from what I understand the pods that are sold online are not the same that comes in on live sand and don't live long or reproduce. Is that true? If not then where can I order them? Thanks!
