Can I add live sand to the aquarium on top of residual salt on the bottom of the aquarium floor

Yes you can.. Best to simply stir/break it up though but shouldn't matter

Is it salt or detritus?
I started my tank bb and was blown away by how much poop came out of rocks in an empty tank. Salt should dissolve pretty easy if you just blow it around a little.
