Lobophora

i have this brown leafy algea, that iam pretty sure is lobophora. in researching it, it seems like there are only two ways to get rid of it......cooking your rock - not an option, or a naso tang. been looking for a naso small enuf to match my other fish but no luck, plus my 90g is probally a little to small for one anyway, and with my luck it wouldnt eat it anyway. so does anyone know of any other options?

If you dont have alot you could try covering it with kalk paste. Care must be taken kalk paste if too much is used at once could screw up your water. Alittle bit at a time would work and may solve your problem.

i have too much for that. i tried that with minimual results. the algea encrusts the rock so the kalk paste blows off it b4 it can really do anything. but iam about 60% covered in it so that would be a lot of kalk.

Well the 90 would probably support a Naso for a while, but I cant say whether the Naso is 100%. Not sure if setting up a fuge for cheato or some other rapidly growing macro would help.

Are you familiar with the process of rock cooking? This could work, but is a lot of labor.

i think i would be lucky if the naso is 50%. like anything else, theres animals that are supposed to eat something, but maybe only 10% of em will......i've never seen an emerald crab eat bubble algea. plus my 3 other fish are small, and i've had a hard time finding a naso thats around 3 inchs. any bigger and he would be way bigger then anything else.

i have a fuge with cheato that grows like crazy. i know how to cook rock but its really not an option. i have about 120 lbs. in the display and alot of it has corals attached. so i would have to frag everything plus lose most of my rock for months.

the LFS had some and said that they got rid of it when they put a whole shipment of turbo snails in it. others have mentioned that, but turbos always seem to die pretty quick because they are so big and dont find enuf food i guess. i started with 10-12 and they didnt eat it and now i only have 3-4. so i guess that didnt work either.

What other fish are in there? I dont think the turbos would work cause to the best of my knowledge Lobophora is hard and calcearous.
