Loc Line locations

I converted a 40B sump into a display tank, b/c i had it laying around. It has two holes for .5" bulkheads on the bottom of one of the side panes of glass. So i have a few questions:

1) are there any drawbacks from having the returns from either the CLS or sump being near the bottom of the tank?

2) would two .5" bulkheads be able to handle the ~1000gph from a closed loop?

3) Should i just keep them plugged like i have currently and run the pump exits over the top of the glass.

I will attach pics of the tank with in the hour.

Thanks

Kyle

You can see the two .5" bulkheads with plugs already on the tank. The other holes on the left side are going to be for my drains (1 for sump and 1 for CLS)

I would make a return box on one end out of acrylic keeping it tight to the end and spanning the width of the tank, Then use both openings as drains with stand pipes. The only difference would be the drains exit ou the side rather than the bottom. Then you could use the holes on the other side of the tank for the cls and return.

I was thinking about doing that but we'll see what my budget allows. Either way i would have standpipes. but the thing that i am not so sure about is the return with those two .5" bulhead locations?
