Trying to find some info on some good local shops in the Cleveland area. I'm mainly looking for some good corals/frags and will be here til Tuesday. So where's the best coral? Thanks for your help...

There is one toward the west side. I can't think of the name right now. Maybe post in the Cleveland reefers site.

Wow. If you're ever in the Cleveland area you have to check out Salty Critter. I picked up several chalices, some ORA frags I had been missing, a red and nuclear Blasto a few more frags including a red, purple and green tricolor and some screaming zoo's. It was well worth the trip over to the store from where I am staying. I even got to run over to another place on the way back that was also pretty good. Nothing we have in our area even compares to what I've seen here. 33longs with hundreds of acans or chalices or acro frags, gorgonians 3 feet long, favias and favites the size of grapefruits going for 50 bucks and healthy.... that Salty Critter place is like a laboratory - so clean it was spotless... really a beautiful shop. I will be going back. rave rave rave

Yep when I talked to the owner he said they just had doubled the tanks and live rock bins, so I would assume you could double up on what you remember. I especially liked how they maintained everything and were using quality equipment like monster lifereef skimmers and geismann and ushio bulbs over all the tanks. They didn't cut any corners... and it shows in the quality "critters". Funny thing was, you would almost expect them to be expensive with all the overhead and stock but the prices were shockingly cheaper than anything around here. It's a shame we don't have something like that... "if you build it they would come," I'd think. Maybe someday... Anyway, I'll try to post some photos of my new stuff soon as I also have some things to trade/sell at the swap. I was also lucky enough to hook up with a couple of reefers up there and managed to get some more corals on my way back. That C-SEA bunch up there sure is nice.

LOL I bet they were.

"if you build it they would come,"

Not unless your talking about building an international airport. You wont find much cheaper in this area Im afraid, shipping costs drive up prices to ridiculous levels by the time consumers get to them.

He's right, Taz. THey can do it because of the sheer volume of business they do.

Thing is, and this is true for our LFS around here, too, you go in once and they know you forever. I've been away from that area about seven years, so I doubt he remembers me, but he did remember me from one summer to the next when I was in college. He's a good dude. We at least have some of those around here. Our LFS might not be cheap, but they do EVERYTHING they can for us.
