"In the 1980s, acropora coral, a colorful hybrid species of staghorn and elkhorn coral, was plentiful"

LOL

I don't find it funny that the hybrid acropora (along with the other acroporas) is rare now and was plentiful in the '80s, do you?

I am guessing you thought it was funny that the article didn't get the meaning of acropora exactly right...

yes. hybrid acropora is a. prolifera which is a. cervicornis (staghorn) and a. palmata (elkhorn). its ALWAYS been rare because it is a sterile mule. it also isnt colorful.

a. prolifera isnt under the endangered species act as a. palmata and a. cervicornis is now precisely because it cannot reproduce on its own. that information is contained on the pdf that announced their entry to the endangered species list and given as the reason it was not listed alongside the other two.

Dactyl, I am free to post as I wish here (can't say the same for you since you have been banned several times). BTW, I have my M.S. in Environmental Science.

funny, ive been on RC since 2001 and i never had any problems until i started dealing with you floridians.

you're arrogant, rude, inconsiderate, boastful, racist, and elitist.

ive met other people who had to move here from the west coast for work purposes and they say the same. indeed i visited my parents in los angeles last week and the difference is like NIGHT AND DAY. don't worry about me, ill probably get out of this hell hole when my lease is up in 2 years.

I love it when a previously banned member sneaks back on and then lets their personality draw attention back to them.

Bye CiXeL.
