local water

i just picked up a salifert phosphate test kit. when i got home i tested the water in my tank, tap and the water i have been adding for top off ro/di. just out of curiosity. all of the tests showed 0 on the test kit. is this possible for the local water to not have any phosphate. any feed back would be great. is it possible i have a bad test kit??

maybe they are only for saltwater tests?

Check silicates as well. My tap water reads over 300 on my TDS meter. There has to be some substances in there that are not good.
